Question

I'm pregnant and my child's father is threatening my life and wellbeing if I keep the baby. What legal rights do I have as a single mother? Can I get full custody to protect myself and my child?

Answer

The first thing you need to do is contact the district attorney's office in your county and ask them to help you obtain a protective order against the child's father.

With allegations of violence against you there is a high probability that you will be able to limit his access to your child to supervised visitation. If he's threatening your life to try to coerce you into giving up your child then he's probably not going to want to take advantage of any visitation permitted by the court.
