Question

What happens to my mortgage/ house that I had prior to my marriage, if I happen to die before my spouse?

Answer

Your spouse has an interest in the home as a marital asset, either as homestead if you live there together or as a spouse entitled to assets upon your death. The mortgage is security for your payment of the note. If the note is not paid, foreclosure can occur and theycan wipe out her interests as well.
