i am being sued by a credit card company, going to court, should i offer them some money in court?i don't have much, but the credit limit was 500 but after all this time it has doubled
Answer
It is impossible to establish in certain if one should make a settlement offer, based only upon general information. You may have a defense that would prevent the creditor from obtaining a judgement against you. In that case, a settlement offer may not be in your best interest.
Assuming you do nto have avalid defense, it is common for these things to settle for less than the entire amoutn allegedly owed. Often, the sooner one make's the settlement deal, the less the creditor (through their attorney) will accept. It is not uncommon for credit cared attonries to acdcpet 50% of what is alelgedly owed, if you make the deal before court.
You should consult directly with an attorney who can look at all the documents surrounding your case, and ask you follow-up questions. Then you can decide if you want to settle and for how much.
Good luck
