Question

my father has stolen pain medication from my mothers home and we have proof if we press charges what is the minimum sentence he will be facing? and like wise what is the common sentencing he would face as a first time offender?

Answer

First, only a prosecutor may press charges or dismiss charges. They may do so whether or not the alleged victim wants that to occur.

Second, if you believe a crime has been committed, you report it to police.

Answer

It is prosecutors who decide on criminal charging. It is for the public to report crimes to the police. Theft of prescription medications is a not uncommon issue. Tricia Dwyer Esq ph 612-296-9666 Minnesota Criminal Law Attorneys Minnesota Family Law Attorneys Tricia Dwyer Esq & Assoc PLLC
