Question

I live in Pennsylvania, and my question is this: Should I expect my vacation to accrue, from what was agreed upon in my employment agreement - that is to say if I negotiate an extra week of vacation as part of my employment agreement, should I expect to have that extra week as a supplement to all future accruals? My employment agreement offers: "Two weeks of paid vacation annually effective immediately" and our Employee Manual states: that each employee is offered one week of vacation in their first year, two weeks of vacation for the 2nd through 5th years of employment, etc.

Answer

I would look at your agreement. if you negotiated two weeks immediately then to avoid any confusion the agreement should have indicated something to the effect that the two weeks given to Employee are in addition to any schedule of vacation offered in the employee manual. As your agreement states you get two weeks annually effective immediately.
