Question

For a civil suit involving debt collection, does the court require a mandatory settlement conference as some states do? (There is a court date set for a motion for summary judgment from plaintiff on the same day as I have a motion to compel arbitration. I'm not feeling good about it and just want it done and am wondering if it's too late for a settlement.)

Answer

Hello. Further details would need to be known in order to provide you with a specific response. You may review the MN Rules of Civil Procedure and the FDCAP. I urge you to confer with your own attorney at this time as she should know your case facts and issues as well as anyone. Tricia Dwyer Esq.
