Question

I originally filed a juvenile custody/visitation case in the state of Ohio. Recently, the child and mother have moved to Florida and the Ohio courts ruled to close the case there. I need to file a contempt charge on the mother, but I would like to know how I go about opening the case in Florida. Can I just file the contempt charge and attached all corresponding paperwork related to the case from previous hearings?

Answer

you need to file a Petition to Domesticate the Case in Florida and have the judge issue an order for same. then you can proceed under Florida law.
