Question

I bought a used car from a dealership in Georgia in October. The temporary tag expired, so I got another one. The second temporary tag expired and they said something about the owner having to get the car registered in-state before the title could be transferred. They sent a dealer plate. It is now May and still no tags. I ran out of gas and a police officer informed me that this was illegal for them to do this. Should I contact legal counsel. I'm wondering if there is any course of action for me either to get this mess straightened out or if I should ask for a different car.

Answer

Hire an attorney immediately

Car may be stolen, salvage, etc

Good luck
