Question

I rent a lot, but own the MH in a park in Clinton, MS. I have a 3 bedroom 2 bath MH that I live in by myself. My daughter and son-in-law need to come live with me while they save money and build a house, which will take about a year. The park is telling me they can only live with me for 6 months. Is this legal? I own the MH, how can they tell me who can live with me and for how long? Also, they are only allowing 2 vehicles per trailer to be parked in the park, so anyone with more than 2 cars has to get rid of the extras. Can they do that? Seems like too much power.

Answer

It all depends on the covenants and rules of the park. Yes neighborhoods can set covenants concerning number of vehicles, occupants etc if they are properly drafted and filed.

There are plenty of examples where an individual owns a home in a neighborhood, but has restrictions placed on his or her house and lot
