Question

When going through a dissolution and child support payments are not being met can a temporary court order be made?

Papers are filed in court...have not received date of dissolution. No child care support has been received for over 6 months. Please advise.

Answer

In Ohio, while the case is pending, one of the first things that the court will do is to set up temporary orders for visitation and child support. These will usually be adjusted into a permanent order of the court at the end of the case. If one of the parties to the litigation is not following the orders of the Court, then the other party can make an order to show cause why the party disobeying the court's orders should not be held in contempt.
