There is a huge area of floating plastic trash area in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It breaks down at such a slow rate that the garbage being added to the oceans daily is simply adding up and eventually ending up in this eddy current swirl. Most of this plastic has broken down to small pea-size pieces, but recent estimates say this Great Pacific Gyre is about twice the size of Hawaii (not Texas or France).
