Question

My husband has been employed by this couple for 7.5 years as a farm hand. They agreed to pay him $10.00 per hour plus the house for $350.00. They owe him back wages, as they have never paid him for all the hours he has worked. They have evicted us and given us 60 days to move. They are refusing to pay the back wages saying they can not afford to. My question is can they legally evict us while still owing my husband back wages?

Answer

You two need to consult directly with a civil practice attorney very soon. It will matter how formal this arrangement was

Very few employment contracts are considered to be for life. Either side can teinate it. But, they kau owe dages to the other. Assuming your husband works more than 35 hours per month. You might he able to stay until they pay, or you use up the back wages at $350/ month.

Good luck
