Another company called my current job for a reference & i had not applied anywhere. My job demotes me, i lose pay & my job can't provide me with the company's information who called. Is this right?

No, it isn't right. The people you work for are jerks.
Have you considered the possibility that they're lying to you? That nobody "called for a reference"?
It probably isn't ACTIONABLE, that is, you won't get a lawyer to take this case on a contingent fee basis.
Your remedy is to quit.
