Is it true that the late singer Robert Palmer owned a pub in San Diego called Shakespeares?
Yes, that is true. Robert Palmer owned Shakespeares' Pub located in San Diego, California, in the mid-to-late nineties, under the name of a corporation that he created for some of his business investments. He was seen there often holding court with a group of friends. Palmer owned a second home in Del Mar, California, which is a suburb of San Diego County and was seen out frequently in San Diego when he was in town. His main residence was in Lugano, Switzerland, but at any given point in time Robert Palmer owned more than one home. He owned property in San Diego under the name of an array of corporations since the seventies. One of Robert Palmer's first corporate acquistions was a restaurant called The Hungry Stick located in San Diego, which he purchased in 1975 and sold in 1979. He also created a bar and grille called Checquers in San Diego in 1994 that closed due to it's lack of profitiability in 1995. Robert Palmer was an astute businessman as well as a talented musician.
