my parents were divorced in 1991 or 92 in reston va. in their divorce decree it states that my mother would be the sole beneficary of my fathers federal retirement. if my mother died before my father it would be given to my sister and i which has happened. my father died 2 yrs ago and the insurance gave my sister and i each 10%. my stepmother recieved the other 80% in error.when i called OPM they stated they did not have the decree on file.what can i do now? i live in co. and my stepmom lives in fla. also my sister died in june this year and i am now the sole bene.

Answer

Contact an attorney who specializes in dealing with estates that contain federal benefits. Good luck.
