Question

Recently, I wanted to buy an English bulldog puppy and had come across a site call starbullies.com I emailed them, asking about one of their puppies and started the ball rolling on purchasing her. They sent me an invoice and had me send my payment through Western Union. After they picked up their payment, they sent me an official looking flight itinerary from another company (petcoshipping.com) saying my puppy would be delivered to my home. In the end, no puppy came and when I emailed the people at Starbullies, they said they would look in to it. I emailed them back demanding my money back and have not heard back from them since. The starbullies website has since been taken down and I'm out not only $550, but the fee to use Western Union plus a days worth of pay when I took off work so I could be home to receive my puppy.

I'm in Missouri, and they were in Maryland. I have saved all of the emails and info they gave them. What legal action can I and should I take against these people?

Answer

Report this incident to the Attorney General offices of Missouri and Maryland. You might also want to sue them. Since they (presumably) got the Western Union payment in the company name, you will want to get a record of the payment being picked up. Print the emails, and take all of the records to a civil practice attorney in your area, to determine your options.

Good luck
