I left a company that I had worked at for several years and part of my compensation was living in one of his condos and now he has asked that we leave immediately the condo. Now some key things.. I left due to the stress and some things he had me to do that may be illegal that pertains to a law case he is in and thru other various mental stress (short of verbal abuse). this has affected my health and my Dr. said he is more than willing to write a note or whatever so that I may claim unemployment. My position with the company was operations mgr. The owner is 92 and I basically did it all. The other key is this is in a gated community in which the condo is located that he provided and we are afraid that he may shut us off gaining access thru the gate. We do live in Florida. Side note he had bought my personal car shortly after I started and bought a new car in his name so that I could use as a company car. So this left me with no car.. thankfully my elder mother (84) lives with me and I have her car. We have started packing but this will be no easy task to get out immediately(what ever that means). I am to go in to pick up my last check and I am sure we will have a conversation and I will offer to pay him rent for a month.. My QUESTION IS.. Can he make us move immediately or do we have a time frame to move out and he can legally shut us off going thru the gates to get access to the condo. I did give 2 weeks notice.. Being the operations mgr. I tried to leave on good terms..and worked till the end of the day of my last day.



Answer

Unless you have some written agreement, he can end your employment with all the perks including the condo without any further notice. HIs stressing you is not worker's compensation, you must have physical impact to have a w/c case. As for your unemployment compensation claim, you will have a tough road on that too if he decides to fight you. You need legal help, seek a labor and employment attorney
