I have lived in a duplex dwelling for the past 23 years. I recently asked my landlord to provide me with a copy of my lease, as I had misplaced mine. He will not do so. Is there anything I can do?
Answer
In Ohio, if a copy of the lease is necessary for getting utilities or some other amenity (such as a local parking sticker for over night parking on the street or something like that) and the landlord will not give you a copy of the lease, then you will likely have a claim for relief against him which the law will recognize.
But if you just want one for your records, then the answer is no, he does not have to give it to you.
