I own a 2 family house in Bergen county NJ. We want to turn it into a one family house because our daughter and grandchildren moved in with us and we only have two bedrooms downstairs. We let our tenant know Feb. 1, 2015 that we would needed her to look for another apartment. What would a fair timeframe be and what is our next step be if there is no progress in them moving out?
Answer
We would need to serve them with a Notice to Quit with Demand for possession. If they fail to comply, we would have them evicted.
