Question

My 19 year old son was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and falsifying a prescription they held him for 6 hours and then released. This is his 2nd DUI. Do we need a attorney. What is he looking at

Answer

My general rule of thumb is, if you feel the need to ask if you need an attorney, you absolutely need an attorney.

Your son has two quite severe charges, and they should not be taken lightly. Should you want to discuss this, contact my office at your convenience. I am normally in the office until 7pm.

Answer

It is not possible to say what he is looking at without knowing a great deal more about the case. As Joshua Hale said above, he is facing 2 quite severe charges. Of course he needs a lawyer. If you or he can't afford a lawyer, a Public Defender may be appointed to represent him. But if you want to hire a private lawyer, then you must do that very soon. You don't say when he was arrested, but he has only 10 days from the date of the arrest to take some action at the DMV level, and if he doesn't do that, he will lose valuable rights. So this is serious, important and urgent. I work in the Torrance courts regularly. If you'd like to speak to me about this matter, don't hesitate to call me at 310 393 0639. If it goes to voicemail (depending on when you call and where I am at that moment), leave a message with your name and phone number. I will know that you called and I will call you back as soon as I possibly can. Good luck. Steve Mandell
