How long can a person be liable for child support?
Answer
It depends - however, hypothetically, child support obligations will cease when the court orders differently, or usually per the court's order, when the child graduates from high school or when they turn 18 if they drop out of high school, and, if you did not pay child support as ordered and if you have arrearages, a judgment or enforcement action take place and then the debt on the arrearages can be owed your entire lifetime and possibly owed by your estate.
You should hire a qualified child custody attorney and sit down with them and review your current situation and/or your current orders, and then, let them advise you as to what options you may have.
