The child of my mother wants to grant me custody rights to me son who is 3. We do not want to be married but she wants to give me equal access and rights to my son since her boyfriend is trying to keep her from letting me see my son and is threatening to kick her out. We went and spoke to a couple lawyers in Georgia and we're told she couldn't just give me partial custody and rights without putting me on child support. She doesn't want to do that. Do we have any options?

Nope. Under Georgia law you MUST pay child support, even absent a court order. If you continue not to, someday you may land in jail. And plain and simple, judges aren't going to deprive a child of his child support just because a parent is trying to weasel out of it. Neither parent can subvert the child's right to be supported and courts will focus on it. Man up, file a legitimization (get a lawyer), and the court will set support, custody and visitation. If the two of you agree (and follow the state child support guidelines this will be fairly quick and inexpensive).
