Question

I have a 2 month old daughter. The father and I are no longer together. He has been to see his daughter just twice.Once when we came home from the hospital, and again when she was three weeks old. He does not give me any money for her support. He can't keep a job, he does drugs, he sells drugs for his mother.I want to try to gain sole perminant custody of her and I have no idea what to do to go about doing this. Should I go have a consultaion with a lawyer in my area, or is there something I can do on my own to petition the court for this? Thank you for your time in answering my question.

Jessica

Answer

While it is certainly possible to file for custody and child support on your own, I would strongly recommend consulting with an experienced family law attorney.
